
1996 Inaugural World Cup of Hockey Game Used Banner!
Up for auction is a 1996 World Cup of Hockey Game Used Banner that hung in the rafters of the CoreStates Center in Philadelphia during the inaugural World Cup of Hockey. This banner was hung in the rafters at the CoreStates Center in Philadelphia and witnessed several historic hockey games. The CoreStates Center was one of the arenas that were used during this historic inaugural event. This arena hosted three games which this banner hung over the ice for. These games were:
August 31, 1996- USA vs. Canada (USA won 5-3)
September 7, 1996 Semifinals Knockout Game- Canada vs. Sweden (Canada won 3-2 in double Overtime)
September 10, 1996 Finals Game 1- USA vs. Canada (Canada won 4-3 in Overtime)
These were some of the most historic and important games of the tournament. I have never seen another arena banner from this event offered for sale. The banner has the same design on both sides.
