1984-85 Mats Naslund Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Up for auction is a 1984-85 Mats Naslund Montreal Canadiens Game Used Jersey. This Away jersey was worn by Naslund during the 1984-85 NHL Season. This jersey shows fantastic wear with hit/slash/puck marks, unrepaired holes and a repair. This jersey has had the nameplate removed.
This is an interesting jersey as there is obvious signs of two nameplates being used on this jersey. The Canadiens recycled gamers to be used by Fredericton in the mid to late 80's, hence the nameplate removal. My understanding is the Canadiens used two sets of jerseys typically in the 80's. Classic Auctions sold a 84-85 Naslund that was conclusively photomatched back in 2019. I am fairly certain this is the 2nd jersey he wore that season. This jersey has to be from 84-85 as the Canadiens wore Maska jerseys prior to this season and Naslund had an "A" during the 1985-86 Season (no signs of an "A" being removed on this jersey. I always felt that this was the jersey he was wearing in his 85-86 O-Pee-Chee card due to the alignment of the numbers/logo and how they hit the white piping on the jersey. Then I saw the jersey auctioned by Classic a few years back and it has nearly the same exact number and logo alignment. I have never conclusively photomatched the jersey. My photo research has been limited to Getty, Cards and google searches. I haven't extensively searched for a match. With all of that being said, I am comfortable listing the jersey as such and I feel like the price is reflective of the nameplate removal and lack of a solid photomatch.
